About Us

The Madison Garden Club,  founded in 1955, serves the communities of Madison Village and Madison Township in Lake County of Northeast Ohio. Madison, located approximately 40 miles east of Cleveland and bordering beautiful Lake Erie has an ideal gardening season from April through October. Madison is also the home of the David G. Leach Research Station (affiliated with Holden Arboretum), a world leader in the study and propagation of Rhododendron. Our members come from the communities of Madison Village, Madison Township, Geneva, Unionville, Perry and Jefferson in Northeast Ohio.

Our Outreach to the Community

The Beautification Committee is responsible for hanging baskets in Madison Village, planting the bandstand boxes and Lee Planters in Madison Village Square, planting the three garden pots at Andover Bank, tending to the 8 garden pots in the community (township hall, village park sign, by the cannon in village park,) and tending to the two pots in front of Mr. Hero. The hanging baskets and pots in Madison Village Square and the garden pots in the community are watered and tended to by Madison Village and Madison Township. The pots at Andover Bank and Mr Hero are watered and tended to by the garden club members.

The Tomorrows Trees Today Committee is responsible for fall tree planting, memorial trees, planting garden pots at Veterans Memorial Park, maintaining seven ovals at Key Bank and maintaining the Madison Public Library Butterfly Garden.

Every October, the club paints 60 pumpkins which are then distributed to individuals served by Meals on Wheels.

Every November, the club decorates Christmas wreaths which are distributed to local schools, the fire department, the Township Hall, the Village Police Department and other community buildings.
